This distiller does a great job for the price. To remove deposits from the prior use, I start each new use by putting just enough hot water in to cover the bottom and adding 1/2 teaspoon of the citric acid. I use a dish sponge on a stick to stir the solution over the bottom, until the crystals dissolve, and then swirl the sponge around the sides up to the top. After letting it sit for a few minutes, I use the sponge to easily dislodge any remaining deposits and rinse. The citric acid does work better than vinegar. To remove chlorine and other VOC's, after filling the distiller with tap water, I plug it in without the lid and, when steam becomes visible, I wait 15 minutes before putting the lid on. In 3 to 4 hours, depending on the temperature of the water I start with, I've got a gallon of pure distilled water. The distilled water tastes good but, to add good minerals and enhance the taste even more, I add a tablespoon of Keto Chow Daily Minerals to a gallon jug of the distilled water. This tastes much better than the water I was buying at the store, and I like knowing exactly what's in it.
